3 Easy Ways to Eat Well

Much of the food we eat travels great distances. We’re talking 1,300 to 1,500 miles for a single head of cabbage! Isn’t that strange, especially when Madison is surrounded by thousands of acres of farmland? Choosing first local then organic foods will help our planet survive, but it also helps your bodies stay healthy and your local economies thrive. 1. You can buy organic from your local farmers. Many areas now have Community Support Agriculture programs in which you can buy shares and receive good food.

  2. You can plan meals in advance and buy only what you need. On average, 26% of food in the refrigerator is wasted.

  3. You can harvest your own supply of fresh produce by converting your yard into a vegetable garden.
